I am great at anime, an exellent cartoonist, free hand scketch artist etc. I’ve been drawing since I was a child and have improved considerably over the the thirty five years of my life. I just feel as if I am capable of making money with it and would like some advice on how to get started….

There are many good artists in all the various media who never make it because they never get fully trained and/or do not tap into “the system” to sell their work. What you need to do, I think, boils down to three simple things:

    1. Find someone who is a true expert and get an HONEST opinion of your talent and current skill level.
    2. If the opinion is that you have what it takes and are ready, find an entry level job in the field so you can learn the business and get to know some people. Do not be ashamed to start at the bottom, for this is your research phase.
    3. If the opinion is that you have what it takes but your skills are not yet there, get some training. Find a HIGH QUALITY art school. Not a fly-by-night program that advertises on TV but an accredited college or university, and learn everything you can.

If you get bad news, continue to love your art. Even if you keep it as a hobby you love, do not be disappointed, but be a passionate amateur who is building skills all the time!
