I worked for Target for a few years, and believe me, they have video of you taking the eyeliner.

You need to get your act together and stop the shoplifting. Own up to this and tell the truth, and you’ll probably just pay the fine and get community service.

Why are you taking things? Is it a dare, or a thrill, or do you just want things you don’t have the money to buy? Is there an adult in your life that you can talk to about this?

As a mom, I alternately want to shake you and give you a hug. You really need to get this all figured out before it becomes so serious that you won’t be able to get into college or get a job – and then you’ll feel even more like you have to steal in order to get the things you want.

The way to start over again is to own up to this. Since you are a minor it won’t be on your record and it won’t screw up your future prospects. Please, please, please don’t keep stealing after you turn 18.
