Major Deek

The “creation” of government jobs doesn’t create wealth it destroys wealth by taking from the private sector.

Or are these jobs paid for with the same money as “free healthcare?”
Herb then it follows that you should take any and all measures to stimulate the PRIVATE economy shouldn’t you?

- CUT the corporate tax rates to SLIGHTLY under what the rest of the world has.
- CUT payroll taxes.
- CUT capital gains.

Millions of Jobs would be created in weeks by the TRUE creator, the PRIVATE sector.

Why is that so hard to understand?
sassy one, true, the “middle class” has moved UP. This is fact.
listless, LOL thanks. A an absolute PERFECT specimen you are for the BDS museum.

    No.

They would have been better off giving the money to tax payers so they could pay their mortgages and buy cars etc.

He ran on the platform of redistributing wealth, growing the govt, caring for people, and punishing corporations. He is just trying to keep his word.

Considering the drop in jobs in the private sector, that leaves people with no money to spend.

And the biggest boost to any economy is people having money to spend.

What part of that don’t you understand?

Right. Government jobs do not create wealth, it takes tax dollars to pay for them and where do those tax dollars come from?

I saw the picture of Obama with his shirt off. His suit definately is not empty.
Oh by the way, the wealthy private sector made more wealthy by Reagan;s trickle down theory has all but wiped out the middle class.

I would actually support spending money on infastructure, like roads and bridges. Those things need work, and I really don’t care which administration does it.

But the clean energy crap? That industry is already heavily subsidized, and it’s nowhere near being viable by any measure. It’s a Utopian, unachievable short term goal.

And – I don’t believe nuclear power is the right move either. We have no way to dispose of the waste. All we do is bury it so our kids can deal with it? No, I’m ok with using oil, coal and gas. As we run out the prices will rise and as a result other fuels will become more economical in relation, but trying to force them will kill us and distort the market.

You are so right. It is nothing but a PORK bill – and any one that doesn’t see that is either a Banker, a Car maker, or someone looking for that Bailout money. Ridiculous! Look at how the money has already been squandered. Lazy students – did not look at the substance, or lack there of – in Obama when they voted for him, and now too lazy to follow-up on what is going on. Just blind students following what their Liberal professors tell them to do.

IMO, Obama does not have enough experience to understand the ramifications of rampant government spending.

Carter was another tax and spend democrat. He also had a Democratic Congress during his term, as well as media support that helped him get elected despite a lack of experience.

President Carter’s tax and spend governing style destroyed the US economy, according to historical accounts and economists.

Here is an excerpt from the Wikipedia page on Jimmy Carter and the economy under his term:

“Ultimately, the combination of the economic problems, Iran hostage crisis, and lack of Washington cooperation made it easy for Reagan to portray him as an ineffectual leader, causing Carter to become the first president since 1932 to lose a reelection bid, and his presidency was largely considered a failure.”

Carter’s proposals failed to strengthen the economy despite a Democratic congress, according to historian Julian E. Zelizer.

From an article in Harvard business by Julian E. Zelizer a professor of history and public affairs at Princeton University’s Woodrow Wilson School:

“Jimmy Carter found that all the political skill and savvy in the world did not compensate for lacking strong constituencies.

There were moments when this shortcoming did not matter, particularly when he still could rely on the momentum of his election. But as times become rougher, lacking coalitions was devastating.”

People in this country had better wake up. Especially the Democrats. Listen, you can’t possibly be so in love with Obama that you actually think that the stimulus package is good. This stimulus package is nothing but a bunch of free-bee give-a-ways and entitlements.
Smoking cessation classes…how does that help the economy and the business sector?
The Democrats are big on social programs. That’s why we tease them about being socialiSTS. Because they are. But this stimulus package proves it to a tee. What will this do to our children and their children? We are going so far in debt we’ll never climb back out.

Perhaps he believes that John Maynard Keynes was right when he said that government spending could stimulate the economy.
