I know for me, the year was 1980, Reagan was going against Carter, and the press was saying that if Reagan won, it would be the end of the world as we know it: nuclear proliferation with Russia was a certainty. When the opposite happened, along with job creation, wealth, good times, etc., I was done listening to the press and my family of Union workers.

    I’m a former conservative.

The turning point for me was 1994 witch hunt against Clinton, followed by Valerie Plame, followed by Terry Shaivo.

Terry Shaivo was the final straw.

Very few people turn from liberalism to conservatism. It’s usually caused by severe head trauma.
    But,
Ther are a lot of conservatives who become liberals.

I am a Christian and I love America they way she was before the 2008 election.

Poor ole Brain Dead Democrats following an Adolph Hitler wannabee, Barack Hussein Obama, like a male dog following a female dog in heat.

May God protect the American People and the Free World from the Democrat Party and Barack Hussein Obama.

For me it was around the same time and I was sharing a house with a well known Liberal leader and I suggested once, partially in jest, why don’t the poor maintain their neighborhoods, i.e. get surplus paint for free (available at many paint stores) and pick up their own neighborhoods instead of standing idly by while their houses fell apart and this person became absolutely livid, “so, that’s your answer for everything isn’t it?” I was so taken aback by this and other events that I realized that certain far left, liberal ideals did indeed have a degree of malicious intent. You had to be there. On the other hand the naked greed and war mongering of the far right left me even more cold so now I adhere to a more centrist view believing that certain things should be socialized for the benefit of all. My chief complaints are health care, the under taxation of the wealthy and corporate manipulation of our legislators. By the way, I belong to a Union. They are good for people and a challenge for corporations who’s CEO’s demand that the extra money go into their pockets first. That is a Plutocratic ideal.

    I’ve always been a conservative,
But I watched both of my parents become conservative (not sure why)

And I watched my wife become a conservative after she moved from a rural area to the city.

Her comment was all these liberal ideas seemed great when she was in the country, but when she moved to the city and saw how abused the programs are, and how broken the system that funds them are, and how whenever she would voice the opinion that things needed to be fixed she would get attacked verbally and called a right-wing extremist who hated the poor, she realized the reality of the world and gave up being a democrat.

For me it was when Carter betrayed our agreements with the Shah of Iran, de facto supporting the maniac Ayatollah Humeini. I wonder how many liberals recall this, or that the Shah was striving to move Iran into the sort of government Turkey has today. Had I not awakened to reality then, it would have happened when Carter was given the Peace Prize. The liberals are True Believers, truly, the most dangerous of fanatics. May God save us all from their blindness.
