Wow, you must be exhausted from all that typing! Seriously though, I think socialism appeals to young people because it sounds so fair and they are easily swayed. When I was in my teens and early 20s, I too thought socialism was the way to go, but as I got older and more experienced in life, I saw that most of the time, the people who do achieve success have worked hard and sacrificed for it while a lot of the times the people who haven’t are there because of their own laziness and/or stupidity. Socialism has never worked in any country that has adopted it. Why should we be any different? They say the true sign of stupidity is doing the same thing over and over again but expecting a different outcome. That seems to be what Obama is doing. Believing in Socialism, to me, is akin to little children believing in Santa Claus. Once you get older and more experienced in how life works, you can see it makes no sense and is logistically impossible. This is not to demean the magic of Christmas, but you can’t build a government and an economy on fantasy.

America has socialist tendencies. Every time you call a 911, a firefighter puts out fire, your child goes to (public) school, you are utilizing a “socialist” service. Socialism is always a bad thing. I am sure if a firefighter demanded $2000 up front to save your burning house you would be outraged, but that would be 100% capitalism.
